Dream statistics

Finally, I am back!

My last post on this site dates from some time ago and we announced great news then: I increased the number of dreams I could remember every month.
I argued that making remembering dreams an important issue (like starting a blog about it) was a great help to keep the momentum going.

So, what happened?

I got too ambitious and burned myself. Yes, I wanted to crank up the statistics, show a steady improvement, and then …

Got scared!

I was afraid that by remembering as much dreams as I did, I would never be able to show great improvement. Month after month.
I stopped posting. I saw the number of dreams I remembered go down. I stopped doing my exercises …

The result is easily guessed and I show it in the plot above (to read the plot, please see this page in which I explain it in detail). The trend is upward from the very low 5 dreams I wrote down in March to somewhere around mid Mai, around the time I posted my good results here.
June was terrible! Less than 10 dreams remembered on a whole month! And then finally, I started to crawl out of the downward trend with a total of 20 dreams on 11 days!

I seem to be back on track with two important lesson learned:
First: I remember my dreams for myself and not to impress others. The statistics are a useful means to illustrate that the techniques do word! And that any body can use them to remember a lot of dreams in a short while (a few months).
Second: Due to all the prior exercises I did, I can rapidly recover my previous level of dream recall. It takes 6 to 8 weeks when it was a long time ago I did the exercises (first peak), it takes 1-2 weeks when it was not that long ago (second peak).

For any body starting, this could be a good guideline. One should be able to start remembering dreams in a few weeks of intense training and then start improving.

I hope my experience can be helpful to all the people trying to remember dreams.

To the astral.

  1. It’s funny how writing them down everyday makes you remember them more - i used to pay big attention to my dreams and write them down all the time - lately I haven’t had time and sadly haven’t remembered any dreams in awhile…I should really start getting back into the habit - they’ve always been good at telling me what’s going on and what I should do!

  2. There is always room for improvement. Keep up the good work. It will come in time.

  3. Thanks Chelle and Daniel for your comments.

Yes, practice make perfect. Check back in a few days, as the new stats are coming up.

  5. This is an interesting topic. I can never recall my dreams. In fact, I wonder what I would dream about! But it’s good to know that if one wants to remember dreams, it is possible with steady practice.

  6. Yes, before I started doing this, I rarely remembered any dream at all. Now, well, come back and see my progress report for yourself :-)
Anyway, it is clear that it can be done.
